Richard began his career in insurance with Commercial Union in Manchester in 1981. Having moved into insurance broking in 1984 with Garratt Son & Flowerdew, Richard was appointed as Divisional Director of Willis in 1992 and subsequently moved to Wallwork Jensen in 1996 becoming a Director in 1997. Richard's desire to advance the family business further resulted in the formation of Garratts Insurance Brokers Limited in 2001.
John M Grindley

John began his career in insurance with Commercial Union in Preston in 1979. Having spent a decade working for insurers, John moved into insurance broking in 1990 and was appointed as a Partner with Charter Insurance Brokers in 1992. John joined Richard at Garratts Insurance Brokers early in 2002 and was appointed as a Director the same year.

John began his career in insurance in 1952 with Commercial Union Assurance Co. in Manchester and completed a further 2 years training in London with Bray Gibb and Co. John went on to become managing director of Garratt Son and Flowerdew, as was, and then Willis Corroon Contingency and Special Risks Ltd. Since retiring from Willis in 1995, John has acted as a Consultant and Non-Executive Director of Garratts Insurance Brokers and as an offshore Insurer. John held the position of Vice President of The Chartered Insurance Institute from 1977 to 1981. He also served as a Council Member for 20 years and was Chairman of the Disciplinary Committee.
